Design Considerations The best place possible for a
Feng Shui garden is best located in the hills. Ch’i is something
that requires mountains so the hills are used as the mountains. It
also helps to place your home just south of the hill. This way storms
and strong winds do not hit your home. This is bad luck according
to the Chinese. As you enter the lot on which you have chosen there
should not be any direct lines to the front door. This is known as
a poison arrow. This straight line from the road to your front door
welcomes ghosts into your home. To prevent this you will need to
add curves to the sidewalk or trees by the road to avoid the ghosts from
entering. Another thing you will want to think of when you are designing
your feng shui garden is where you want to place the water features.
The placement is everything when it comes to feng shui. If you have
a kidney shaped pool you will want to place it toward your house to comfort
it. Another thing that should be included is the symbols for feng
shui that interest you or that have special meaning in your life.
For example I would want to put water in my garden because my symbol is
fire and my boyfriend’s symbol is wood. This would get rid of any
bad vibes that may occur. Archways are another thing you may want
to consider. If you use archways in your garden it looks as though
you are going to separate that particular section of the garden and make
it a separate room. This can be neat to see and have some place to
escape to.
